What Artweeks will do for You

Being part of Artweeks gives you the opportunity to be part of Oxfordshire’s biggest visual arts festival. Your details will appear in a full colour, free guide, 50,000 copies of which will be distributed throughout Oxfordshire and beyond. Artweeks will also mount an effective publicity campaign to ensure that it is brought to the attention of a wide audience.

In addition, you will be connected to a comprehensive network of local artists and through regular quarterly newsletters be offered a variety of opportunities which you might otherwise be unaware of.

The Process

  • Once the closing date has been reached, and the applications sorted, you will receive an acknowledgment letter, together with a proof of your entry to check. Your details will also automatically be loaded onto our website.

As there is only one part-time office administrator, the sorting process will take some time, so please do not worry if you do not hear from us immediately. However, if you have had no contact from the Artweeks’ office by mid-January, please call (01865 865596) as your application may have gone astray.

  • You will be assigned to a volunteer area co-ordinator, who is also a participating artist in your area. He/she will contact you and let you know if there are any meetings or marketing initiatives planned which will, with everyone's support, help to highlight the exhibitions in the area and will make Artweeks an even greater success. This is a good opportunity to network with local artists.

  • Your area co-ordinator will also give you details of where and when publicity materials will be available for collection, in early April. These may include guides, posters, flags, balloons, stickers and banners.

  • There will be a newsletter dispatched to you in December, March, June and September, with news about the organisation and the festival and details of any opportunities open to Artweeks’ members. The March newsletter will also include some advice about setting up your exhibition.

  • By the beginning of April, the organisation will have produced 50,000 copies of the guide, ready for distribution via key venues throughout the county, along with several thousands of posters and other promotional material. Artweeks, along with its P.R. advisors (‘Spriggs David’) and marketing consultants (‘Lyons Marketing’) organises a high profile press and advertising campaign to newspapers, magazines, television and radio, in order to promote the event as widely as possible.

  • The event will start with a Launch Party, to which all participants are invited, along with sponsors and supporters of Artweeks. This usually takes place in a central city venue.

  • Members are also offered the opportunity to exhibit in our Online Gallery for a fee of £25·00 per year.

Participants’ Responsibilities

Artweeks is a non profit-making organisation, with only two part-time employees. The companys activities are therefore restricted and in order to make Artweeks a success, we ask participants to:

  • be responsible for finding their own venues and organising their own exhibition;
  • support area organisers in their local initiatives to publicise the event and to help distribute promotional material such as posters if required to do so.

Membership for non participating artists

Annual membership is available to artists who may not wish to exhibit every year, but would like to be kept informed about Artweeks’ activities and opportunities. By becoming a member, you will receive a quarterly newsletter, either by post or by email and you will automatically receive the Artweeks’ entry and membership forms for the following year.

Annual membership runs from January to December and is available at a cost of £10·00.

Please download and complete the form and return to the Artweeks’ office, together with a cheque for £10·00 to the Artweeks’ office at:
