Artweeks Festival 2008
Special Events
The Mary Moser Award
This annual award was established in 2003, to honour the work and commitment to Artweeks, over many years, of Lady Mary Moser. The award is intended to help develop the career of a professional artist who has taken up art as a second career later in life, with a small cash prize.
In 2007, the fifth MMA was given to photographer, Simon Murison-Bowie.
Having formed an interest in the art as a teenager, Simon spent much of his working life in educational publishing. 35 years later, he has returned to photography. Simon is interested in exploring the differences between human and camera vision. Image making is for me a way of understanding my immediate surroundings, of truly seeing the familiar, rather than recording the exotic.
Simon’s work will be exhibited this year at the “North Wall Arts Centre”, St. Edward’s School, Oxford (17th–26th May) & at Artweeks’ site 364 City
